A bathroom in 4 m²: what fits and what does not
Shower or bath, where the washing machine goes, how wide the door should be: the three decisions in a small bathroom.

A 4 m² bathroom leaves no room for mistakes: every centimetre is a decision, and each one has to reach the plumbing and electrical drawings. More on bathroom design.
Shower or bath?
In 4 m² a shower is usually the better choice: it leaves room for a washing machine and storage. A bath takes a whole wall and leaves little for anything else. If a bath is a must, the washing machine has to move to another room.
Where does the washing machine go?
Beside the basin under a worktop, or in a column with a dryer. It needs water, a drain and its own socket, so its place has to be fixed on the drawings before the build, not on site.
How wide should the door be?
Wide enough to carry the washing machine and the shower tray in. A sliding door, or one that opens outwards, saves the swing inside the room. All of this is part of full design.
